About & Tips
Welcome to Scrabble Word Finder — your free online tool for solving Scrabble racks and discovering playable words instantly. Our mission is simple: to help word-game lovers improve their play, expand their vocabulary, and enjoy the strategic depth of Scrabble.
How It Works
Enter up to 16 letters and use “?” for blank tiles. The system generates all valid words from official
UK (SOWPODS) and US (TWL06) Scrabble dictionaries, complete with point scores.
You can filter results by starting or ending letters, or require specific characters to appear. We also keep a
supplementary custom_words.txt list to fold in newly accepted vocabulary like VLOG so the
solver stays current between official dictionary releases.
Tips for Better Scrabble Play
- Memorize short words — two and three-letter words open up the board and create high-scoring opportunities.
- Look for “hooks”: adding one letter to existing words (e.g. READ → BREAD).
- Balance consonants and vowels on your rack; avoid getting stuck with all of one type.
- Save blank tiles and S’s — they’re precious in the endgame.
- Learn Q-without-U words like QI, QAT, and FAQIR.
Scrabble Records & Trivia
The highest theoretical score for a single Scrabble word is 1,782 points for OXYPHENBUTAZONE, though this requires an unrealistic board setup. In real tournament play, the record for a single word belongs to CAZIQUES, worth 392 points, played by Karl Khoshnaw in Manchester, UK, in 1982. Another famous high-scoring word is QUIXOTRY, played by Dr Saladin Khoshnaw for 365 points. Both remain legendary examples of Scrabble skill and board vision.
