How the Solver Works

Under the hood we blend a lightning-fast trie search with a linear verification pass. The trie prunes impossible prefixes instantly, while the linear pass guarantees that any fringe rack combinations (especially those using blank tiles) are still surfaced. Filters are applied twice—once while traversing the trie and again before displaying—to ensure every result respects your prefix, suffix, or “must include” constraints.

  1. Normalize the rack: We clean the input, cap wildcards at three, and convert everything to uppercase so scoring stays accurate.
  2. Apply dictionary rules: The app loads the official SOWPODS and TWL lists plus our curated custom_words.txt file so new vocabulary such as VLOG and EMOJI is included.
  3. Score and sort: Every word is scored with the classic letter values, then sorted using the mode you selected (length, alphabetical, or score).

Strategy Corner

Use the “Must include” box to hunt for parallel plays that reuse high-value tiles already on the board. Pair it with the “Starts with” or “Ends with” filters to discover hook plays that extend existing words by a single letter. Need inspiration? Browse the Word Lists library for curated Q-without-U, high-scoring, and two-letter references you can memorize between games.

  • Study the generated bingo-length words to memorize new stems.
  • Sort by score to quickly identify power plays that justify exchanging tiles.
  • Keep an eye on uncommon vowel/consonant ratios to avoid burning your blank tiles too early.

Responsible Use

The finder is perfect for study sessions, post-game analysis, and friendly games where helpers are allowed. Tournament play usually prohibits external aids, so please respect event rules and review our Terms of Service for details.
